You may be eligible If you identify as black, are between the ages of 18 and 26, and live in certain areas within Oakland or San Francisco.

MyMoney Moves is a financial mentoring program for Black young adults ages 18-26 who live in certain areas of San Francisco and Oakland. It is being done in partnership with researchers at UCSF to see if the program changes financial and economic outcomes for participants. Financial mentoring is personalized, one-on-one guidance, where an experienced mentor helps individuals develop financial knowledge, skills, and habits. The goal is to empower people to take control of their finances by providing education on topics like budgeting, saving, managing credit, and setting financial goals.

Our BIPOC financial mentor meets people where they are and offers practical advice, emotional support, and encouragement, tailored to the individual’s needs, helping them make informed decisions about money, avoid financial pitfalls, and build long-term financial stability. MyMoney Moves is more than just mentoring—it’s a pathway to wealth-building and financial independence for young adults!
 Eligibility MyMoney Moves Financial Mentoring Overview What will happen in the MyMoney Moves project?

There are four components to the project:

1. Mentoring Sessions: Participants may receive up to 6, one-on-one financial mentoring sessions with a certified financial mentor.

2. Self-Paced Learning: Participants will have full access to MyPath MyMoney, an online platform where they can learn at their own pace about key financial topics, including saving, budgeting, debt management, taxes, and more.

3. Surveys: Participants will complete quarterly surveys to provide valuable feedback. The first survey will happen when we meet in person at enrollment into the project; the next three are virtual; the last survey is also in-person 1 year later.

4. Compensation: Participants can earn up to $400 as they complete mentoring sessions and surveys!
