Financial Mentoring Participant “Before meeting with my Financial Mentor, I was going paycheck to paycheck which was a struggle because I felt like I wanted to save money. I wanted to learn strategies to save money because I had a savings account that was low. My goal was to put away a small amount monthly, at least $50, to build the habit. After a few sessions with my Financial Mentor and talking about ways that I can not be so impulsive with my spending, I was able to save $150 and not touch it, which was really helpful.” Financial Mentoring Participant "During my first meeting with my Financial Mentor, we reviewed my credit report. Learning that a credit report is like 'a financial report card for your life' -metaphor stuck with me. I instantly began taking it more seriously. Getting a copy of the credit report and reviewing it, I understood what impacted my credit, it's a fragile sensitive report and missed payments can make an impact. Knowing the consequences of my financial decisions has given me positive responsibilities that will make myself and my family proud which is important to me - I feel more confident."
